"...Morley and Outwood MP Ed Balls, who along with his wife was tipped as possible shadow chancellor, becomes shadow home secretary."
Labour's new leader, Ed. Miliband, selects his shadow cabinet by picking from Labour's old line of favoured MPs.
Mr. Ed. Balls (remember him?) has been made home secretary of the shadowy kind.
"Mr Balls said he was "surprised but pleased" to have been given the home affairs brief.
He said: "Obviously the economic argument has been very important to me - that is why I stood for leader of the Labour Party. But to me it's never been about the job you are doing and the particular personality, it is about winning the argument. For me, this home affairs brief is very important."

If my crystal 'balls' are performing correctly, then home educators can expect to be picked up by truancy sweeps and grilled about their terrorist leanings as Balls takes charge. We home edders shouldn't expect to travel abroad on holiday any more (no passports) and Mrs. Balls aka Yvette Cooper is now matron at the Foreign Office so she'll turn the other countries against us.
"Home Office:- immigration - passports- policing- crime prevention- drugs- counter-terrorism- ID cards "

Oh, yes, look for ID cards to be promoted for home educators and their children too. Just in case you were relaxing when Balls got the chop along with his socialist party in the last election.
A final word from the commenter, failed law student, on

"The thought that fascistic Balls could ever be home secretary scares the crap out of me. He scares the crap out of me, full stop. He is everything that is wrong with the way Labour operated when in power."
There's no shadow of doubt in my mind that you are right, failed law student.
Your right Balls stands for everything that is wrong with the Labour party!
ReplyDeleteSounds dreadful. I just got a note from a lady in Germany where home education is illegal and she says many families leave the country in order that their kids can learn in freedom.
ReplyDeleteI can't believe how fortunate we are in Canada!!
I was stunned when that Balls bloke got voted back into his seat; so once I was past the bemusement that any right thinking person could vote for such a man - well now, nothing surprises me.
ReplyDeleteI would say that with Ed'n'Ed there no one will ever vote Liebour again - but like I say, nothing will ever surprise me in politics again. *sigh*.
Balls vote was down by -8.45 for the Morley and Outwood seat he turned what should have been a safe labour new seat into one which he could lose at next election!
ReplyDeletein September 2007, with his wife Yvette Cooper, he was accused of "breaking the spirit of Commons rules" by using MPs' allowances to help pay for a £655,000 home in north London. Balls and his wife bought a four-bed house in Stoke Newington, north London, and registered this as their second home (rather than their home in Castleford, West Yorkshire) in order to qualify for up to £44,000 a year to subsidise a reported £438,000 mortgage under the Commons Additional Costs Allowance, of which they claimed £24,400. This is despite both spouses working in London full-time and their children attending local London schools. Through a spokesman, Balls and Cooper asserted that "The whole family travel between their Yorkshire home and London each week when Parliament is sitting. As they are all in London during the week, their children have always attended the nearest school to their London house."
Additional allegations have been made about Balls' and his wife's "flipping" of their second home three times within the space of two years.[23]
Balls has also on his watch seen the rise of the BNP with the BNP wining 2 euro seats which one of them covers his area! this will not be forgiven by mny labour voters and labour M.P's
Balls is far from safe in his new job he have to watch his back!
Thanks, guys.
ReplyDeleteYou are fortunate in Canada, rfs.
It astounded me when our useless Labour MP got back in too, Mum6kids.
Peter, you have been digging, haven't you? What really riles me is the fact that we citizens have to pay our taxes and keep scrupulously to the rules and, if we step out of line, we are immediately hammered.
MPs, however...
I have a little laugh these days whenever I see the saying 'Crime doesn't pay'.
Hi Danae yes we have been digging have a lot of experience with Penny Jones Ed Balls/D.Johnson M.P and Alan Johnson M.P who upheld a SAO for Peter! We been digging away ever since they did that!
